Our experience

The Bark Lounge - 24/7 Dog Daycare & boarding Facility

You may be wondering what our experience is when it comes to pet businesses, let us take you on our journey.

Caroline's first love of working with animals came when working as a volunteer vet assistant during school, after high school she started working with other dog daycares in the Vancouver area in BC Canada. This is where she gained a lot of experience working with large groups of dogs and managing off-leash hikes and group indoor activities.

In 2010 Caroline launched The Bark Lounge, starting as an individual dog walker, with the arrival of our son we looked into hiring team members which allowed Caroline time home with the baby but also allowed us to start taking on more clients.

Once our client base grew her husband Adam joined the company to help continue to build the business, in 2014 we launched our facility and expanded our services from private pet sitting/dog walking/hikes to include 24/7 daycare and boarding services, which then continued to expand into dog sports, and training while also fostering dogs for rescues.


Our Business Grew To A Successful Six-Figure Business

In 2017 we then dissolved our business when our daughter was born, to focus more on family.

During our work we helped several new dog walkers start their own businesses and helped existing pet services in our area evolve and grow, Caroline's passion for helping businesses followed her into 2018 where she spent the next 5 years working at Shopify, helping businesses of many types and sizes continue to grow and thrive.

In 2020 we moved to AB Canada, where we are now launching our own farm business which is where Adam is spending most of his time with the pigs, cows, chickens, and goats.

In 2023 Shopify cut 20% of it's company which gave Caroline and Adam the opportunity to bring their passion back to animal-focused businesses bringing everything we have learned about growing companies from small independent start-ups to multi-million dollar brands and sharing everything back to you and your business.
